It began with
showing up.
Mrs Hilda Owolabi began supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship through church premises in Manchester around 1987.
Food, clothing, blankets and essentials were part of that care. So were conversations, relationships and, where possible, helping people reconnect with family and community.
In some years, the Christmas outreach supported up to approximately 600 people. Behind that number were individuals — each deserving of the same respect and welcome.

Entrusted to Dorcas
After leading the work until December 2025, Mrs Owolabi hands leadership to Dorcas Banwo, who is continuing the Christmas gathering and welcoming new supporters.
Room to grow
Christmas remains the main annual event. Easter or quarterly outreach is a future hope, dependent on support — not a confirmed programme.

Not Forgotten has Christian roots and is working with Christway Baptist Church Salford for the 2026 Christmas outreach.
